Masculine Thanks

Inspiration

Here we are on Heartfelt Creations' Wednesday again - and this week you definitely need to check out the Heartfelt Creations blog - there's a sneak peek of the June release and you're going to love it!

Masculine cards are tough to create, but the HC sets from the last few months make it much easier! The tattered background stamps from the Old English Garden Collection and the western elements from the My Guy Collection go together perfectly in my card this week to create a Thank You note for a special guy.

Stamp the sentiment in dark blue ink on white card stock. Cut/emboss with a small deckled oval die. Cut/emboss dark blue card stock using the next largest deckled oval die. Sponge the dark blue ink around the edges of both ovals.

You Made My Day

Inspiration

I designed this card using a sketch from a small sketch group I participate in. I needed a thank you for a co-worker who had sent me a lovely bouquet to thank me for working an 80-hour week to meet a deadline, so I made 2! The blue one went to the co-worker, and the rust-colored one went to the sketch group.

Cutter Bee Scissors (EK Success)
Rotary Trimmer (Fiskars)

Instructions

BASE CARD and MAT

Start with base color card stock measuring 4 1/4" x 11, score at 5 1/2" and fold. Cut a piece of mat card stock to 4" x 5 1/4", and stamp "Thanks" randomly over it. Wrap the twine around the top portion of the mat, then mount the mat on the card front.

TAG

The distress layers are all made using a single tag, made using the "Spritz & Flick" technique from Tim Holtz. First, using the blending tool cover the tag with colors. When you have the colors blended the way you like them, add a shade of brown around the edges of the tag. Now, spritz some water into your cupped hand, and flick droplets across the tag off your fingers. You can do a little or a lot. When the tag is dry (you can dry them with a heat tool if you want to), cut the tag into 3 strips.

Trim left side strip to 5" long, and the right side strip to 4 3/4". Trim the middle piece to 3 7/8" long.

SENTIMENT

Size the image to be 5/8" in height. Print the sentiment image on ivory card stock and cut the sentiment out to measure 3/4" x 4".

ASSEMBLY

Adhere the left tag strip onto the card front about 1/2" from the bottom edge of the card. Add the sentiment strip above the bottom tag strip, then mount the right tag strip above the sentiment. Thread 3 pieces of twine through the hole in the middle tag strip. Mount the remaining center tag strip vertically across the mounted strips. Glue a gear only the top strip.

Stamp the poinsettia image using black ink inside the frame, and the sentiment in red ink below the poinsettia image. Stamp the image 2 more times on additional white paper. From one of these, cut out the entire poinsettia. From the second image, cut out center poinsettia image. Cup of Thanks

Inspiration

The teacup from the Tea With Bella stamp set (part of the new Bella Rose Collection at Heartfelt Creations) is so fun - it can fit lots of occasions! And the swirly leaves from the Bella Rose Leaves set can be used with the new matching dies, that really make it a snap to cut out their intricate design! There are lots of creative examples for using all the new sets of stamps on the Heartfelt Creations blog - be sure to visit to see all the beautiful work from the design team.

I made this card for the woman at work that is officially an "admin", but in reality does anything and everything to help things run smoothly. She just finished up two weeks of playing hostess to customers visiting in our office, making sure all were kept comfortable and well fed, and is now headed on a well-deserved vacation!

Trim the cup and rose image closely, then cut out just the roses from the bottom of the partial image. Color all with COPIC markers:

Glue the leafy spray image onto the card, then mount the sentiment tag at the bottom of the square.

Wintergreen Thanks

Inspiration

Here’s a quick thank you note I put together – it uses all Stampin’ Up! materials – all of which have been on my shelf for ages!  (I’m still on the mission to use up some of my myriad supplies).  The cards come pre-cut to go with the “Fresh Cuts” stamp set. I used the retired color “Sage Shadow” – a very cool wintery green shade.  The ribbon was a lucky match – I had it left over from a couple of Christmases ago and it matches the Sage perfectly.

20110130_WinteryThanks

Ingredients

Paper

Note: finished card size is 4” x 4”

Fresh Cut Notes (SU!)

pre-cut, 4” x 4”

Sage Shadow (SU!)

3 3/4” x 3 3/4”, plus a scrap

Whisper White (SU!) small scrap

Ink

Versamark (Tsukinedo), Sage Shadow (SU!)

Stamps

Fresh Cuts (SU!)

Accessories

Spring Flower Bouquet punch (SU!); Tiny flower punch (Punch Bunch); White embossing powder (Stampendous); Heat gun; Sparkly ribbon (Michaels); Bow-Easy; Adhesive Transfer Gun 714 (Scotch); Glue dots; Scissors

Instructions

Background Image

Using the embossing ink pad, stamp the design pattern on the green cardstock, and cover with the white embossing powder. Heat with the heat gun to set.

Greeting

Stamp the greeting on the front of the card using the green ink.

Assembly

Mount a ribbon around the front of the card following the folded edge.  Tie a bow using the Bow-Easy, and mount it in the center of the ribbon using one or two glue dots.

Apply adhesive around the edges of the FRONT of the embossed green panel, and mount it facing forward on the back of the front of the card, so that the image shows through the cut outs of the card.

Punch a flower from the green scrap, and a tiny flower from the white scrap and mount them in the center of the flower cut out, using glue dots.

Final Notes

Envelope

Since it costs more to mail a square card than a standard rectangle, I used my A2 envelopes to send this card.  Since the card is only 4” x 4”, it fit just fine!
