One of the really nice features of the Heartfelt Creations' stamps is the coordinating dies made by Spellbinders. With the new Christmas Cheer Collection, there is a set of dies, called the
Christmas Cheer dies that let you stamp an image from some of the stamp sets, and cut them out using a die instead of having to pull out the old scissors. Be sure to watch Matching Stamps & Dies video to see exactly how to get the most out of your HC stamps and dies.
Elegant Angels stamp set. And the Herald Angels Background stamp is the perfect coordinating design for the angel theme.

Stamp the Herald Angels background image in dark blue ink over the entire card front. Mount the wide grosgrain ribbon across the card, and the holiday ribbon on top of the wide ribbon.
Angel
Cut/emboss a scalloped oval from white cardstock, and a plain oval from blue cardstock. Stamp the angel in light blue ink on white card stock and cut it out using the matching Christmas Cheer die. Enhance the image with SPICA pens - I used gold and clear. Using foam tape, mount the scalloped oval in the left corner, and top it with the plain oval, and the angel.

Welcome to another Heartfelt Creations Wednesday. The design team is sharing more beautiful Christmas creations, so be sure to visit the Heartfelt Creations blog. And the winner of the Christmas Cheer Collection is announced this morning too, so be sure to check out who the lucky crafter is today!
I know it's early, but I'm getting in the Christmas spirit already - starting to think about decorating the tree, starting that gift list, planning how to get the 150 cards made and mailed in early December, etc., etc., etc. So, you'll be seeing some of the cards I'm trying out - since I have to "mass-produce", I have to have some simple designs! The new Christmas Cheer Collection offers the chance to design intricate or simple cards.
Today's simple card features two new stamp sets - the Poinsettia Ornament 2 set, and a sentiment from the Dove of Peace set.

Stamp the ornament on vanilla card stock in brown ink, and color with makers. Embellish with adhesive gems. Trim it closely. Punch a hole in the top of the ornament, and string green embroidery floss about 4 1/2" long through the hole.
SENTIMENT
Cut a rectangle of vanilla card stock measuring 2 1/4" x 3". Stamp the sentiment in green ink in the upper right corner, and "doodle" a decorative border around the edge.
ASSEMBLY
Cut a strip of red card stock measuring 1 1/4" x 5", and green measuring 1/2" x 3".Cut the patterned paper to 3 7/8" x 8 7/8". Mount the red strip about 1 3/4" down from the top of the mat, and add the sentiment panel and green strip on the right. Attach the ornament using foam tape, and attach the embroidery floss to the back of the mat with a little tape. The base card is made from green card stock cut to 8" x 9", scored at 4", and folded. Mount the matted image to the front of the card.

Inspiration
There's a whole "discipline" of card design called Clean and Simple, or CAS. In fact, Splitcoast Stampers features a weekly CAS challenge, and they define it this way: "
It's all about the design; not the technique, not the tools, not the embellishments. It's all about the design: uncluttered, lots of white or open space, one main focal point" (directly quoted from SCS).
I like doing the CAS designs - they are a respite from the layers and embellishments and intricate cutting I often do. And they often result in quite elegant creations that are a real pleasure to send.
This CAS card can be used for many occassions - I'm sending it for fall anniversaries this year.

Here's another project using the new Heartfelt Creations' Christmas Cheer Collection from Heartfelt Creations - it has so many beautiful images, it's hard to know where to start. There are 14 new sets of beautiful Christmas-themed stamps, and a new exclusive Heartfelt Creations die, manufactured by Spellbinders.
This card is a simple one - this one uses the Snowy Winter Background stamp as the main image. I thought it was just too pretty to put it in background, at least at first!
Ingredients
Note: Finished card size is 5" x 7"
Paper
Not Quite Navy (SU!) | 7" x 10"; scored at 5" |
Signature Christmas patterned paper (My Mind's Eye) | 4 7/8" x 6 7/8" |
Metallics (Wassau) | 4 7/8" x 6 7/8" |
Inks
Stamps
Accessories
Stardust Stickles (Ranger) |
Ribbon (Hobby Lobby) |
Foam tape |
Scissors |
ATG (Scotch) |
Rotary trimmer with straight & deckled blades |
Instructions
IMAGE
Stamp the image in blue ink on the metallic paper. Set it aside and let it dry - on this paper, it seems to take a little while for it to dry. Once dry, highlight the snowflakes with the Stickles - it appears blue, even though it's clear!
ASSEMBLY
Cut blue card stock to 7" x 10", score at 5", and fold. Use the deckle blade to cut the patterned paper to 4 7/8" x 6 7/8". Wrap ribbon around the patterned paper 3 times, keeping the ribbon spaced apart at the bottom of the mat. Tie a bow around the three ribbons at the top of the mat. Mount the mat to the card front with the bow at the top. Add the image using foam tape over the ribbon just below the bow.
Final Note
If you are going to the Creating Keepsakes Convention in San Marcos, Texas this Friday & Saturday, be sure to stop by the HC booth! I'm going to be there assisting with the demo, and I'd love to say hello. And there's a WOW giveaway - Leave a comment on the Heartfelt Creations blog by September 20 for a chance to win the entire release valued at $240.00.
My first creation is a wreath, wrapped in fabric and ribbon, then decorated with the largest ornament image, and the stacked poinsettias and leaves ~ all in all a pretty quick project that creates an elegant decoration. I'll post cards tomorrow and Friday.
Ingredients
Note: This wreath is about 10" across

Instructions
FLOWERS and LEAVES
Stamp 18 poinsettia leaves on green paper in embossing ink, and emboss with glittery gold embossing powder. Cut them out. The poinsettias are made in 4 layers - stamp 5 sets of 4 layers on red paper, and emboss with the same gold powder. Trim them closely.Stamp the large ornament image on vanilla paper, and emboss with gold powder. Cut this out, too.Stamp just the flower part once on green paper, and once on red, and emboss. Cut the entire flower out of green image, and the center petals out of the red. If your quilt pins don't have gold heads (mine didn't), paint the heads gold with the Sharpie paint pen and let them dry.
WRAPPING THE WREATH
Cut strips of muslin about 2 1/2" wide, enough to cover the wreath - about 5 yards. I sewed the strips together into a single strip, but it's not really necessary. Using straight pins, anchor the muslin onto the wreath and wrap the muslin around the wreath until it is completely covered. If you don't use a single strip, just anchor the end of a strip and the beginning of the next with more pins.
Loosely gather some tulle and anchor with pins, and wrap around the wreath - this wrap is much looser than the muslin. Now wrap anchor the holiday ribbon with pins, and wrap it around the wreath, too. Finally, wrap some ribbon around the top of the wreath to create a loop for hanging, and tie a bow for decoration at the base of the loop.
FINAL ASSEMBLY
Now, arrange the elements around the wreath. I found it easiest to start with the large ornament first - I used straight pins to attach it on the right side of the wreath - one in the top, and one in the middle of the flower on the ornament. Glue the green flower onto the matching pattern of the ornament to cover the pin, and then the red flower on top of that.Stack the poinsettias and put a gold-headed pin through the center of each one. Use these pins to attach the flowers to the wreath. Finish by adding the leaves with straight pins around the flowers and the ornament.

I'm going to be there assisting with the demo, and I'd love to say hello. Inspiration
I have a friend whose son turned 11 on September 9, and turning 11 is an important date in a young wizard's life. So in honor of that date, an impressive Harry Potter party was held in his honor, and that required an impressive Harry Potter card! Fun was had by all - an wonderful party - lots of fun - an event that won't soon be forgotten.
I used digital coloring book pages I downloaded and printed onto my favorite white cardstock, and colored with COPIC markers - all pretty quick & easy! The only problem I had was that "Gryffindor" was misspelled in the drawing I liked, so I had to repair it in Photoshop.
Ingredients
Note: Finished card size is 5" x 7"
Paper
Basic Black (SU!) | 7" x 10"; scored at 5" |
Sunshine Yellow (SU!) | 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" |
Cherry Cobbler (SU!) | 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" |
Stamper's Select White (Paper Trey Ink) | 8 1/2" x 11" (only because I ran it through the printer) |

IMAGES
Print the images on the white card stock, and let them dry - usually it doesn't take too long. My method is I print, then cut all the other pieces, and by the time I'm done, it's ready to go. Cut the two images out.
Color with COPICs and SPICAs. Here are the colors I used:
Coat of Arms
- Border: C3, C5, Silver SPICA
- Background: Y38, R89
- Lion: E35, E37, Chocolate SPICA
- Banner: W3, W5
Harry
- Face/hands: E0000, E00, RV91
- Hair: C7, C9, 100
- Cape: C3, C5, C7
- Shirt: Y38, R89
- Jeans: B93, B95
- Shoes: W3, W5
- Broom: E55, E57, E59
ASSEMBLY
Mount the yellow and red paper pieces on the front of the card. Adhere the coat of arms centered in the top area of the yellow side. Add the Harry Potter image using foam tape, mostly on the red paper, but crossing over onto the yellow. Finish up with with a gold adhesive pearl just above Harry's outstretched hand.
Happy Birthday William & Thanks for stopping by!
Inspiration
I used to teach computer programming (way too far back to admit), but think mainframe and COBOL... Anyway, I used transparencies (we called them foils) on an overhead projector to guide the classes through the material, and I always had a box of colored pens to draw on the film. Well, I found a box of blank transparencies in a closet and my crafting soul went "AHA"! I did a little surfing for techniques and found lots of ideas.
Today's Heartfelt Creations card is an acetate panel, colored with alcohol inks, and the image embossed and embellished - hope you like it!

IMAGE
Cut transparency film to 3 3/4" x 4 3/4". Apply a few drops of alcohol ink to a felt applicator and pounce onto the transparency. I used the colors Stream, Wild Plum, and Pearl metallic additive. Stamp the basket image with the white ink in the center of the transparency, and cover in white embossing powder. Heat with heat gun to emboss, constantly moving the heat so the transparency does not melt. Cut white cardstock to 4 1/4" x 5 1/4". Use the corner punch on each corner. Slip the dried transparency into the punched corners, and adhere with tape on the back of the panel.
SENTIMENT
Cut/emboss the ribbon banner using the smaller piece of white paper. Stamp the sentiment on the banner in dark purple ink, and use a sponge to brush color around the edges of the banner.
ASSEMBLY
Cut dark purple cardstock to 7" x 10", and score at 5". Cut blue cardstock to 4 3/4" x 6 3/4", and mount it on the front of the card. Mount the basket panel on the blue mat, leaving room at the bottom for the banner and a row of gems. Mount the sentiment banner using foam tape below the basket image. Finish the card by adhering a string of purple gems below the sentiment, dark pink gems in the center of the flowers, and light pink gems on each dot on the basket.

I really like working from a sketch, and often when I'm "stuck", I'll look through card sketches - there are LOTS of places to find them. I needed a simple card suitable to send to men - I have several male friends with birthdays in September, and none of them know each other (LOL!) so I could make several of the same one to send out.
This card is based on one from the book "Cardmaker's Sketchbook Birthday Celebration". A sketch is always a starting point - this sketch was for a 4" x 9" card with a circle in the middle with the edges of the circle cut off, but I've sized it to a 4 1/2" x 6" and used a full oval. My own design, with inspiration from the sketch.

Instructions
Candles
Stamp the candles in blue ink on the green strip of paper. (I will tell you that I don't use the "wheel" stamps anymore - I pull the rubber off the wheel, and use Ez-Mount to make cling stamps from them. I ink them with a regular stamp pad, and use a Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to get the stamps lined up straight. I find that much less stressful than trying to run the wheel straight across the paper...)
Mount the green strip onto the blue strip of paper.
SENTIMENT
Cut/emboss a blue oval using the largest die, and a green oval using the next sized die. Using blue ink, stamp a sentiment in the upper and lower portions of the green oval. I placed the candle strip across the oval to get an idea of where to stamp, and used the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp the greetings where I wanted them.
ASSEMBLY
Mount the patterned paper onto card front, followed by the blue oval, then the green oval. Finish up with the candle strip across the middle of card.
