Candle in the Window

Inspiration

It's another Wednesday, so it's another Heartfelt Creations day! One of my favorite things to do with HC stamps is layered flowers, and the candle image from the Holiday Poinsettia Candle PreCut Set in September's Christmas Cheer Collection is PERFECT for this technique. I paired it with the sentiment from the Poinsettia Bells & Bows PreCut Set. Remember to check out the Heartfelt Creations blog for tons of creative inspiration from the design team members.

Instructions

BASE CARD

Cut a card from red card stock measuring 7" x 10", score at 5", and fold. Cut a white card stock mat measuring 4 7/8" x 6 7/8". Cut a blue metallic card stock mat measuring 4 3/4" x 6 3/4". Use the corner punch to punch each corner of the blue mat, then mount the blue onto the white. Mount a strip of ribbon around the center of the blue/white mat. Mount the mat onto the front of the card.

WINDOW

Cut a piece of white card stock measuring 3 1/2" x 4", and use the corner round on each corner. Stamp the large snowy image using Versamark, and heat emboss with silver embossing powder. Mount this in the center of the blue mat over the ribbon. Cut/emboss a decorative window die cut. Mount the window die cut over the white snowflake image using foam tape. Tie a bow from matching ribbon and mount to the right of the window.

SENTIMENT

Stamp the sentiment using Versamark, and heat emboss with silver embossing powder. Cut the sentiment out closely, and cut it into 2 pieces. Mount these pieces above and below the window.

CANDLE

Candle Sideview

The candle image is made up of 4 layers; stamp the entire candle image twice, then stamp the flower portion of the image an additional two times. Cut out one complete candle and flower image. From the second entire image, cut out the flame and wax dripping and the 3 poinsettias (everything in red). From one of the flower-only images, cut the full center poinsettia. From the last flower-only image, cut the top-most poinsettia made up of the 5 full petals. Color with COPIC markers. I used these colors: Candle: E30, E31; flame: Y32, Y35; leaves: G21, G28; and petals: R24, R29.

Mount the layers on the left of the window using foam tape to separate the layers. Finish by enhancing the image with SPICA pens. I used Lemon to color the center of the poinsettia, and Olive on the leaves, Lipstick on the petals, and Orange on the candle flame.

Thanks for stopping by!
